What LuniNote does today

Everything on this page is built and working in the beta. What isn't built yet is listed at the end, so you can decide with the whole picture.

Organize

  • Notebooks, grouped in stacks.
  • Tags inside tags, as deep as you like.
  • Shortcuts to the notes, notebooks, stacks, tags and searches you use most.
  • Saved searches.
  • A Trash that never empties itself.
  • Three panes, with List, Snippet and Card views of your notes.
  • About 45 keyboard shortcuts, and a quick switcher to jump to any note or notebook.

Write

  • Headings, lists, checklists, quotes and code blocks.
  • Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, text color and highlight.
  • Tables, with rows and columns you can add and remove.
  • Files and pictures dropped or pasted straight into a note.
  • Saves as you type, a second after you stop.
  • Formatting from imported notes is kept, including fonts, alignment and merged table cells.

Offline, sync and history

  • Keep writing when the connection drops; your changes wait in the browser and catch up when you're back.
  • If the same note changed in two places, you get both copies, and neither is overwritten without you knowing.
  • Every change to a note's text, title or tags is kept as a version you can open and restore, with no time limit.
  • Without a connection, search covers titles and previews; the text inside files needs the connection.

Capture

  • A Web Clipper in the LuniNote extension: Article, Simplified article, Full page, Bookmark, Selection and Screenshot.
  • The clipper works in Chrome for now.

Export

  • Your whole account as one file, from Settings, at any time.
  • As Evernote-format files (.enex), web pages, Markdown, or a complete archive with every tag, shortcut and saved search.
  • Optionally with the Trash and every earlier version.

Import from Evernote

Move your whole account with the extension, or import .enex files, and get a report that accounts for every note.

Not yet

What LuniNote doesn't do today:

  • Firefox, Safari and phone browsers. The app works in Chrome, Edge and Brave on a computer.
  • Phone and desktop apps.
  • Sending notes in by email.
  • Two-step sign-in and passkeys.
  • End-to-end encryption.
  • The extension in the Chrome Web Store. For now it's a download, with steps to add it to Chrome.
  • Opening the app while your computer is offline. Once it's open, a dropped connection is fine.
  • Unlocking text that was encrypted in Evernote. It's kept, but stays locked.
  • Older Office files (.doc, .xls, .ppt), iPhone HEIC pictures and files over 200 MB aren't searched inside yet.

And no AI assistant. Pictures are read by a text-recognition model on our own server; your notes are never sent to an AI service.
